Mvelo-Tlhaho Renewable Energy Solutions is a South African renewable energy company established to close the gap between the country's energy ambition and the quality of what actually gets installed on its buildings and land. The name pairs mvelo — origin, that which is natural — with tlhaho, the natural world in its pure state. It is a statement of intent: energy drawn from the environment without compromising it.
The company was formed around a straightforward observation. Load shedding and sustained tariff escalation exposed how dependent South African households, businesses and farms had become on an ageing national grid — while the systems brought in to solve the problem were too often specified on price, installed without structural or electrical rigour, and abandoned after commissioning.
Our response has been to operate the way an infrastructure firm does. Engagements begin with load profiling and a full site audit. Designs are modelled and validated before procurement. Municipal SSEG applications and ECSA sign-offs are managed as part of the scope rather than passed to the client. Installation is executed by qualified teams under formal OHS oversight, and telemetry keeps performance visible long after handover.
Just as deliberately, we treat cost as an engineering variable. Financing structures are designed so that monthly commitments sit at or below what a client already pays the utility, converting a large capital obstacle into a planned operating decision with a defined path to full asset ownership.
Today the company serves residential, commercial and light-industrial, and agricultural clients from its Gauteng base — applying the same standard of documentation, compliance and accountability to a rooftop household array as to a multi-hundred-kilowatt commercial installation.
